Good comedy, cabaret & theatre shows fill up weeks ahead and the great ones go first. Below: the 14 to book early, what each includes and how they differ.
Join Cologne’s moving comedy stage at Gereonstraße 16 for 90 minutes of German stand-up and sightseeing. The bus passes major sights, including the cathedral area, while comedians such as Keirut Wenzel, Jessica Sinapi, Dirk Volpert, Timo Hübsch, and Cem Ali Gültekin mix jokes with local stories. One beer is included.
At Berlin’s Friedrichstadt-Palast, you’ll see FALLING | IN LOVE, a 2.5-hour Grand Show created by Oliver Hoppmann and inspired by William Blake. Expect more than 100 artists, Jean Paul Gaultier costumes, live music, acrobatics, poetry, and a huge stage. English subtitles appear for some scenes, but not all.

Spend 80 minutes touring central Berlin by comedy bus with live German-language stand-up and historical anecdotes. Comedians such as Cem Ali Gültekin, Kjel Fiedler, and Tina Maria Aigner combine jokes, spontaneous humor, and unusual acts while you pass the Brandenburg Gate, Museum Island, Unter den Linden, Rotes Rathaus, and Reichstag. The tour runs Friday and Saturday evenings.
Join host Chris and a changing lineup of Berlin comedians for 2.5 hours of English-language stand-up aboard the stationary Floating Lounge near the East Side Gallery. Doors open at 8pm, with a free welcome shot, bar access, sunset views, and formats ranging from open mic to dark comedy.

Spend two hours at Berlin’s Quatsch Comedy Club, Germany’s first and most famous stand-up club. A German-speaking host introduces four comedians, mixing established names with newcomers. Choose a seating category, then arrive early to exchange your voucher and claim a better first-come, first-served seat. The show is for ages 12 and up.
“Die Show und die Getränke sehr gut. Service leicht überfordert aber verständlich denn was Sitzordnung angeht gibt es da nichts. Leider super eng , wie auf dem Bild zu sehen einen Tisch hatten wir auch nicht also das Ambiente was man erwartet bekommt man leider nicht es ist eher 7 Stühle Rücken wie bei Tetris wenn man aufstehen will um auf s wc zu kommen. Schade sehr auf Masse gemacht als auf Klasse. Aber Show war gut.”
Spend about three hours at Friedrichstadt-Palast watching FALLING | IN LOVE, a large-scale fantasy show shaped by Jean Paul Gaultier and Swarovski sparkle. Expect more than 100 performers, including dancers, singers, gymnasts, and acrobats, on one of the world’s largest theatre stages. The show works across language barriers, though its abstract story may not suit everyone.

Follow a costumed German-speaking guide from the Klosterruine at U Klosterstraße on a 90-minute live theatre walk through Berlin’s darker past. Hear tales of a murderer who made canned meat from people, a mummy curse, and a deadly plague. The route covers about 1.5 kilometers and returns to the starting point.

Join Hamburg’s rolling comedy stage for 90 minutes of German stand-up, city stories, and quick jokes. The Funmobile runs past the Reeperbahn, St. Michaelis Church, the port, Jungfernstieg, Hafencity, and the fish market. Guides and comedians may include Cem Ali Gültekin and Torben. Friday and Saturday departures are available.
Spend two hours at Quatsch Comedy Club Hamburg, where four German comedians and a host present a changing weekly lineup aboard the Queen boat. Expect live, uncensored stand-up in German, a 15-minute intermission, and a handy harbor setting between the Landungsbrücken and Elbphilharmonie. Bring ID and leave large bags at your hotel.
Spend Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night at Kookaburra Comedy Club for English-language stand-up hosted by Dharmander Singh and Neil Numb. Fridays and Saturdays feature experienced international comics, while Thursday is an open-mic night for new talent. Doors open at 7 pm, pizza arrives around 8:30, and the show runs from 9 to about 11 pm.

Spend about three hours at Tipi am Kanzleramt for Cabaret, the story of Sally Bowles in 1930s Berlin. You’ll sit at a reserved table, hear songs such as *Maybe This Time* and *Life is a Cabaret*, and receive a €5 food and drink voucher. The show is in German, with some songs in English.

See Moulin Rouge! The Musical at Cologne’s Musical Dome, beside the city’s main station. Expect a 160-year pop music mix, handmade costumes, a love story set in 1899 Paris, and a ticket exchange at the theater 1.5 hours before showtime for your numbered seat.
Spend Friday or Saturday night at Comedy Kills, Munich’s German-language open mic at Beverly Kills Bar near Sendlinger Tor. The 9 p.m. show gives each comedian about eight minutes, with one or two longer sets on Saturdays. Entry also includes the hip-hop party, which can run until 5 a.m. You must be at least 18.
Meet at the artist entrance on Hügelstraße for a 90-minute German-language tour of Darmstadt State Theater. See how sets and costumes are assembled, painted, tailored, welded, planned, and rehearsed. The main stage is included only when production schedules allow. Wheelchair access is available.
